Spencer Salmond

  • Diploma in exercise and wellness
  • Certified Personal Trainer (CSEP)
  • First Aid & CPR Certified

Throughout his life, Spencer has shared an interest and passion for both exercise and sports. As a trainer, he not only incorporates fitness expertise and knowledge in his practice, but healthy lifestyle and well-being. With a diploma in exercise and wellness, and CSEP certification, he has acquired a large range of sport specific and general fitness experience. As a health enthusiast, his main goal is to help clients find drive and passion to be healthy, and bring out the best in them. He believes that drive and motivation truly comes from within oneself, and finding that is the key to success.

On his downtime, Spencer is always looking for new methods to improve his fitness, and strive to be a better athlete. He recreationally and competitively plays tennis, boxing, volleyball, basketball, and occasionally plays golf. His next goal in life is to take on a nutrition background, and further his schooling and knowledge. Although he is easy-going, he provides competitive, supportive, and fun methods to help clients achieve their goals. With that said, his motto is “use it or lose it”, and never be afraid to try new things!

Ken Yaya

Growing up, I participated in sports in any way possible. From regulation sports, to mountain biking/hiking, to scrimmage games with friends, fitness has been a part of my lifestyle. I realized I wanted to pursue a career in health and exercise because whenever I was being active, I was happy.

Personal trainers have the experience and knowledge to guide clients towards their goals and this is why I started studying to become one.  I graduated from Camosun College’s Exercise and Wellness Diploma in 2015 and plan on going back to university to obtain my Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy.

Certifications

  • Certified Personal Trainer (CSEP)
  • Emergency First-Aid and CPR/AED
  • Exercise Is Medicine Canada -Level 1

Josh Darian

Being raised in Mexico for 10 years has shown my love for outdoor sports; from playing soccer at a competitive level, to enjoying tennis, baseball, snowboarding, and surfing. For me, fitness is an avenue that holds many possibilities through mental and physical health. My passion to become a personal trainer started after completing my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Victoria. Courses such as Human Anatomy and Human Physiology helped to fuel my love for personal training. My background in Biology and being certified as a trainer through CanfitPRO has allowed me to gain a deep understanding of the fitness world that I can use to pass on to others. In my spare time, I’m constantly finding innovative ways to improve an exercise or a workout. I’m highly skilled in demonstrating how to perform several exercises and routines, instructing individuals the right techniques to reduce injury and improve fitness, providing exercises for different skill levels, keeping a close eye on individuals’ progress, and adjusting programs as needed. Although it is a lot hard work, it’s a highly rewarding experience at the same time.

Certifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Biology
  • Personal Training Specialist (Canfit PRO)
  • First Aid and CPR C/ AED

Shen Tang

Shen has been an athlete her entire life. As a former competitive swimmer, rugby player, Muay Thai kickboxer, she developed the discipline and respect for the powers that resilient minds and bodies can surmount to. This led her to continued success in the world of natural bodybuilding as a figure competitor and a national level raw powerlifter. She has received her personal training accreditation from the British Columbia Recreation and Parks Association (BCRPA) and First-Aid & CPR certification from Red Cross. Currently, she is planning to pursue a Master’s Degree in kinesiology with a focus on preventative health and chronic diseases.

Furthermore, Shen is in the midst of taking her Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) under the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) along with the Coaching Association of Canada’s Level 1 and 2 Theory Certification. Beyond the realm of academia and certifications, she’s consistently educating herself on nutrition, performance and exercise science through relevant peer-reviewed research to compliment her practical experience within training and coaching.

Starting with debunking fitness and nutrition myths sensationalized within mass media, such as lifting will make women bulky or that fats will make you fat, Shen strives to give you the tools to incorporate flexibility in your training and diet while prioritizing health and happiness. Above all, Shen exists to serve the fitness, health, strength and physique community through the most updated evidence-based knowledge and the highest quality of coaching while making a positive impact on the fitness industry through honesty and integrity. She truly believes that the physique is not the end goal, but rather a tribute to the years of perseverance and hard work required to reach one’s potential.
