Sharon Jacobson

Certifications: Certified Personal Trainer (BCRPA), Pre and Post Natal (Canfit PRO), Theory and Physiology, Advanced Strength Training (BCRPA), Group Fitness (BCRPA),  TRX Certified

Sharon has not always been involved with fitness. She started her career from simply running on the treadmill but quickly grew her passion into over ten years of experience as a Personal Trainer with VI Fitness. Sharon is also a group Fitness instructor and Coordinator who is always expanding her knowledge and improving her repertoire of fun and exciting new classes.

Sharon’s passion for training comes from the opportunity to meet new people and from helping her clients achieve their fitness goals. If you train with Sharon she will push you to reach for the stars and will be right there alongside you to celebrate your successes. Her personal philosophy is that every person can become fit and healthy no matter what their age, size or shape.

Karen Bennett

Certifications: BCRPA Personal Trainer, BCRPA Strength Trainer, BCRPA Group Fitness Instructor, Registered BELLYFIT Instructor
Bachelor of Education (Major in Physical Education)

For 25 years, Karen has been very active in the fitness industry teaching group fitness and training clients. Ten of those years she has been involved with VI Fitness. She has a Physical Education Degree and a Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Victoria. Karen also is a BCRPA Registered Personal Trainer, Strength Trainer, and Group Fitness Instructor. She has a passion of being fit and motivating others to get fit! One of the most important aspects of being a personal trainer is to keep current. Karen has completed many courses and workshops offered within the Fitness Industry. Since the world of fitness is continually improving itself, being up to date is very important to her. Outside of fitness, Karen enjoys gardening, walking her dogs, and riding horses

Nicole Attree

Nicola has a degree in psychology & previously worked in healthcare in the U.K and Canada. She has always had to work hard at maintaining a healthy weight, so she understands the challenges. Health and fitness are her passion, and after 15 years as an X-ray Tech, she decided to change to a more fun career in fitness.

Nicola’s fitness career as a Personal Trainer began here at VI Fitness in 2003. In 2008 after taking several specialized courses she decided to focus on mature adults, and adults living with chronic health conditions. Nicola presently teaches classes at Carlton House, the Monterey Center , Cedar Hill Rec and Silver Threads where she is employed by The Parkinson’s Society.

Nicola is delighted to be back at VI Fitness and would like to welcome old and new clients to work with her. She is patient, has a good sense of humor and is easy to work with.

How can Nicola help you?  She can provide you with an efficient individualized program so that you don’t waste your time in the gym. She will ensure that the program is safe, varied and interesting. She will motivate you and provide you with the tools you need to explore your own fitness potential. Nicola will network with appropriate health and fitness professionals if required.

Anikka McTavish

Fitness has always been a big part of who I am, my family first got me started playing soccer and baseball at a young age. I grew up playing a lot of sports but really found a love for hockey and soccer.

I am currently in my last year of a Sport and Fitness Leadership degree from Camosun College. I love this program as I am always learning new things and new ways that I can help people get to their goals. I love being a trainer because I get to know my clients on a more personal level and help them achieve something they thought they couldn’t do. I like to work with a variety of clients no matter what age or health status. I believe there is always room for improvement and I live by that. I like to try new things including workout programs and recipes. In my spare time I workout, hike, spend time with family and friends.

Certifications: CSEP – Certified Personal Trainer, BCRPA – Weight training, Fundamental Movement Skills Course, First Aid and CPR Level C, Diploma Exercise and Wellness

Julia MacLeod-Pharand

Through the Bachelor of Athletic and Exercise Therapy Julia received extensive training in human anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, strength and conditioning and many other relevant skills. She has experience creating customized training programs for a variety of clients from elite athletes to those with chronic disease or recovering from injury. Julia is passionate about helping people reach their goals while living healthier and happier lives!

Certifications: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist NSCA, Certified Athletic Therapist with CATA, Certified first responder with Red Cross, Certified excercise Physiologist with CSEP, Certified Yoga Instructor

Dana Morch

Having grown up in a very physically active family, physical fitness has always been an influential part of Dana’s life! Upon graduating high school Dana went to the University of Alberta on scholarship to play field hockey.  During her time there she was fortunate enough to compete in two national championships as well as internationally in Australia.  After a successful varsity career Dana moved home to further her school studies and has since made the transition to lifelong fitness.   She now trains to help maintain her overall physical and mental health.  Dana graduated from the Bachelor of Athletic and Exercise Therapy program in 2014.  Since graduating Dana has worked with a variety of individuals whether that be in an elite team setting, chronic disease management, or exercise focused injury rehabilitation.   Dana believes in focusing on a well-rounded client based model helping you achieve your goals!!

Certifications: Certified Athletic and Exercise Therapist CAT (C), Certified Personal Trainer (CSEP), HCP First Aid and CPR First Aid/HCP level C Certified
