Kara Shirley

I’ve been involved in fitness my entire life, playing almost every sport you could. Eventually I found my calling in running. I have immense knowledge in cardiovascular training and can help you reach your weight loss goals. I have gone to school for the past 6 years in exercise sciences and other sport related courses at PISE, so I have the most up to date knowledge in physical activity. I have a passion for fitness and I want to implement it into everyone’s lives because I know how important a well put together program is for every individual. I enjoy working with people of all different back rounds, and past exercise experiences. I like to change things up as much as possible and keep my programs fun as well as hard. If you are willing to work hard I know we can reach your goals, what ever they are, together.

Certifications: CSEP-CPT, Certified personal trainer, Degree in Sport Management, Diploma in Exercise and Wellness,First Aid and CPR

Julia Peters

When I moved to the Island in 2010, I decided to make a career change, combining my passions for education and fitness, and become a personal trainer.  I believe coming to your training sessions should be something you look forward to! My 20+ years of teaching and program development have given me the experience needed to create a fun, personalized program for you that will fit your needs, ensure you are consistently & appropriately challenged, and provide you with knowledge that you can use for life.

I love exercise including weight training, hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, rock climbing and Pilates. I have learned the habits and tools required to stay fit and healthy while juggling work, family and other responsibilities and I can help you do the same.  Getting fit and staying fit is hard work, and as your trainer I would be there to motivate you, inspire you and keep you on track. Whether you are looking at getting back into fitness after letting things slide somewhat, or want to work that body to reach a fitness goal like a marathon or passing the RCMP physical exam, I can help!

Certifications: BCRPA Fitness Theory, BCRPA  Fitness Leader – Weight Training, Pilates Mat Instructor, Master’s Degree in Education, Occupational First Aid Level 2

Laura Beaveridge

Exercise has always been an essential part of Laura’s life. Growing up she maintained her fitness level through competitive sports.  After ten years of competitive gymnastics as well as dance, volleyball and track and field she began cardiovascular and weight training in the gym to maintain her fitness level. This is where she cultivated her passion and dedication to health and fitness. This passion led her to become a Personal Training Specialist certified through Canadian Fitness Professionals. She is always seeking to learn more about health and further her education in the fitness industry. She plans to complete her Bachelors in Athletic and Exercise Therapy with an ultimate goal of becoming a Physiotherapist.

Laura combines her years of experience in sport conditioning with her knowledge in cardiovascular and weight training to provide clients with a well rounded, fun and effective program that is specific to each clients goal, whether it be weight loss, increasing strength, increasing muscle tone, improving flexibility, improving posture, sport specific training, or just being able to catch up to your kids with breathe to spare! Outside of the gym she enjoys hiking, rock-climbing, and recreational sports. She loves to see the positive effects that exercise has on not only physical fitness, but on so many other aspects of life including energy, confidence, stress level and overall well-being. Laura is positive, easy going and excited to share her passion. From beginner to advanced, Laura would love to help you reach any fitness aspiration.

Brooke Guindon

My hope is to inspire and teach a generation to be healthier and more knowledgeable than before. I have been involved in many different sports when I was a child such as, swimming competitively for 7 years with the Campbell River Killer Whales, wrestled for 4 years, and for the last few years I been focusing on cardiovascular and weight training.

I want to change your lifestyle so you can better teach and inspire your children, family, and friends. I don’t believe in quick fixes but rather a lifestyle change. I am here to go through the journey to reach your fitness goals, to motivate you, and to inspire you, together.

Certifications: Certified Personal Trainer – (International Sports Sciences Association), First Aid and CPR.
